Clare McWhinnie
Clarence McWhinnie was born in Chapleton on August 21 , 1911. He was educated at Munroe College, Jamaica, and later at Brighton College, and London University, England. In 1949, he married Dorothy Bishop and there was one son by the marriage. Mr. McWhinnie was founder and Managing Director of Waterwell and Engineering Construction Limited, and he was instrumental in developing the underground water resources of the Clarendon Plains. He was deeply interested in agricultural development, in the establishment of local industries and in education. He was Managing Director of the Caribbean Industrial Equipment Limited, Paradise Farms Limited, a Director of Jamaica Cordage Company Limited, Vere Cane Farmers' Association and Chairman of the Clarendon Farm Development Board. He also served in an advisory capacity on many committees, including the H.R.H. Duke of Edinburgh Study Conference at Oxford, in 1956. He was a keen sportsman and a great lover of music. Clare McWhinnie died in 1963 at the age of 52. |

Thomas McWhinnie
Thomas McWhinnie was born in Chapleton on January 29, 1913. He was educated at Munroe College, Jamaica, and later at Brighton College, England. On 16 February 1943, he enlisted into the Royal Air Force at " Little Onn " in Wagatonaston which is near Stafford, England and was discharded on 23 December 1946. In August 1958 he married Dorothy Wray and there was two sons and a daughter by the marriage. Thomas resided at " Ashley Hall " great house in Clarendon, Jamaica and oversaw the running of the plantation together with smooth running of WaterWell Engineering & Construction Limited. Thomas was known around Clarendon as " Mr. Mac " and played a major role in the local community. Thomas died in January 1982 just prior to his 69th birthday.
